What makes it stand out is the departure from the regular Ecuadorian habano leaf that has come to be associated with Four Kicks’ wrappers. Traditionally, this meant only a darker variation of the wrapper, but this time, Crowned Heads is revolutionizing the Mule Kick with an entirely different tobacco for the wrapper. The spotlight this year is on the Four Kicks Mule Kick Limited Edition 2023 that flaunts an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, encasing a Dominican binder and fillers sourced from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua – a departure from the regular Four Kicks blends that employ Nicaraguan tobacco for the binder and filler.
With an MSRP of $12.95 per cigar, aficionados will have to act fast as the production is capped at 3,000 boxes, each containing 10 cigars. Crowned Heads is geared up to unveil the Four Kicks Mule Kick Limited Edition 2023 at the prestigious 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show, scheduled for July 8-11 in Las Vegas, with shipping slated for August.
Staying true to its roots, like its predecessors in the Mule Kick series and the Four Kicks line, this cigar is crafted at Tabacalera La Alianza S.A., under the expert supervision of Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr., in the Dominican Republic.
Jon Huber, Crowned Heads’ co-founder, elaborated on the inspiration behind this year’s blend in a press release, “The wrapper was the catalyst for this year’s Mule Kick blend. Ernesto unveiled this dark, sumptuous Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper to us the previous year, and it was a no-brainer to earmark it for Mule Kick 2023. When the time came to fine-tune the Mule Kick 2023 blend with this wrapper, Ernesto showcased an alternate version that elevated the flavor profile. This blend brought the Dominican binder and some Dominican Piloto Cubano to the filling.”
