At the upcoming PCA Convention & Trade Show next month, Gurkha Cigars is set to unveil its inaugural cigar in honor of the Chinese New Year and the zodiac calendar.
Dubbed “Year of the Dragon 2024”, this cigar is a 6 3/4 x 52 figurado and comes with a price tag of $25 apiece. The press release reveals that this exclusive, limited-edition series will be comprised of a mere 1,000, 15-count boxes. Each box is distinctively numbered and boasts an exquisite “red piano finish” adorned with intricate golden dragons on the lid. Within Chinese traditions, red is associated with prosperity and happiness, whereas yellow or gold is indicative of affluence.
Gurkha remains tight-lipped about the specific details of the “proprietary blend” used in the Year of the Dragon 2024. However, it is confirmed that these cigars are being crafted at the esteemed Tabacalera El Artista factory situated in the Dominican Republic. Furthermore, the press release mentions that the cigars will be exclusively “offered by invitation only at the PCA Convention.”
Gurkha is now part of an elite group of companies that have produced cigars in celebration of the Chinese New Year. This group includes renowned names such as Davidoff, Drew Estate, Habanos S.A., Maya Selva, Plasencia, Scandinavian Tobacco Group, and Tabacalera S.L.U.
Gurkha’s Director of Marketing, Bianca Lopez, disclosed that the cigars are slated for shipment to retailers in September. However, she also cautioned that potential packaging delays might push back the shipment schedule.
The 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show is scheduled to be held from July 7th to 11th in Las Vegas.
